Sandy Christian
Director of Curriculum and Training

Sandy Christian

Sandy Christian, B.Ed., M.Ed., CPC, PVR is a life-long educator (classroom teacher - 25+ years) who reinvented herself by learning the field of Vocational Rehabilitation after moving to Spokane, Washington in 2006.  She has been with Freedom Consulting, LLC since 2012 and is presently the Director of Curriculum and Training.

Teaching at all level of public education in four different states, (elementary through college -  language arts, science, music and gifted and talented) Sandy has been a department chair, cooperating teacher for the University of Minnesota at Mankato and supervisor of student teachers for Whitworth University. In 2008 she was brought onto a team in Spokane to work in a national grant for the Department of Education called, Projects With Industry.  In this position Sandy worked closely providing services for the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation and got to know Jody Johnson. In addition, as part of the PWI grant, Sandy developed, organized and implemented a full-day Leadership Forum called Inspiration and Information – Spokane for teachers and over one hundred of their students with disAbilities held at Gonzaga University on two different years – 2010 and 2011.  She headed up her leadership team of colleagues and college interns from Whitworth University and Gonzaga University in this highly successful endeavor.  Unfortunately, the PWI Grant was cut short after just three years and this leadership forum ceased.  While employed for PWI, Sandy took advantage of many continuing education opportunities including obtaining a National Employment Services Certificate from the University of Washington and CCER, and two one-year post Master’s certificates – one in Applied Counseling and Human Services for Career Planning and Placement for Youth in Transition and the second in Psychiatric Vocational Rehabilitation both from the University of Maryland.

When the PWI grant ended, Sandy obtained employment in a 6-month grant through the state of Washington to develop and implement a supported employment program for individuals with psychiatric disabilities.  At the end of this grant, Sandy received training to be a trained instructor for WorkStrides, a DVR written employment curriculum.  The grant ended and the Freedom story begins.

After updating her LinkedIn profile to seek a new adventure, Sandy’s profile was seen by Jody Johnson, now owner of Freedom Consulting, LLC and the rest is history!

Sandy is a Level II trainer with the Center for Dependable Strengths©, and is also on the Executive Committee.

She presently teaches WorkStrides and Dependable Strengths® classes for DVR throughout the state of Washington and has developed and taught customized workshops for schools and churches.
